We started on the inside today and got one set of doors done– one set to go…

Today we started to strip the paint from the carriage doors. After trying a couple methods we settled on heat to strip the paint. It was slow going, but we got the exterior done today. We are debating on how to address the bead board – repair or replace. The wood grain on the doors looks good. We are leaning toward staining rather than painting.

The new wood floor for the kitchen arrived today. The wood is white oak and will be face nailed to match the rest of the house. It will need to sit in the house a couple days to get acclimated prior to being installed.

Today they laid durarock on the master bathroom floor in
preparation for the heated floor. They also built the master shower threshold,
niche in the upstairs hall bath, and completed other odds and
ins.

We cleaned the brick and floor on the front porch. This was the only portion we weren’t able to get previously, as the front was enclosed at the time we did the rest of the house. Hopefully this will be the final piece of brick cleaning…

Over the past couple days they've started to remove the plank floor in the attic, level the joists, and install new subfloor in preparation for new wood flooring.

Basement windows were reinstalled in today - what a difference!
They also finished work on the kitchen drywall in preparation for cabinet
installation.

Painters arrived this weekend to start preparations for exterior
painting. We’d previously replaced the soffit beadboard and stripped the
brackets. Today they started to caulk the new trim and beadboard and started
stripping the freeze board and gutter boards.

We met with the painter to review the approach of the beadboard
on the front porch ceiling. It was determined it would be a big undertaking to
strip the layers of paint and stain (we're looking to go back with a stained
ceiling - as it was originally stained). We then decided the best approach would
be to remove the ceiling and install new beadboard, so we took it down. Above
the ceiling we found piles of blown insulation that had come through the wall
during the insulation process.

Over the past couple days we’ve had a crew in cleaning up after drywall and preparing for the next phase of the project. The carpet was removed from the staircase giving us our first look at the steps - they looked good!
