We made a good dent in the backyard today, and now have a huge brush pile. In addition to chopping down trees we made an interesting discovery. We uncovered the old cement foundation for a building that was mentioned in the interview with the women who grew up in the house. The building was acutally part of the orginal farm in the area.

Worked in the backyard today. We made a small dent, and a happy surprise is that we uncovered the old fireplace. It seems to be salvagable. We also cut down the yews by the driveway - that should let much more light in the rear of the house.

Window work is making good progress.

Today we presented our exterior plan to the Meridian Street Historic Commmision. After months of preparation and planning our plan was approved. We're ready to start making exterior improvements.

Our window contractor started today. He will be stripping all the window frames to bare wood and will be taking the sashes to his workshop to restore them. He will also be fabricating custom wood storm/screen windows.

Brett came by today to help with removing a mound of ivy - approx 3' high with large roots. After getting to the bottom we made and interesting discovery under a large rock, an old cistern.

Today the roofers put the tile back on the front porch.  Progress!

They took the front porch roof off today, but the tiles started going back on the rear of the house.

Today we had someone come do a brick cleaning sample...and wow, it's like different brick! Now we are going to explore cleaners that will enable us to do the cleaning ourselves.

Today the roofers started to lay the ice/water shield.  This should make a BIG difference inside the house.
