The roofers arrived today! We are having the roof completely removed, new ice/water shield installed, and the original tiles replaced. They are also replacing decking as needed (shown in the second row above). We're excited to finally see contractors at the house!

We borrowed a chainsaw from a friend (thanks Brandon!) and started taking down/prunning some trees today. There will be many more hours of cleaning out the backyard.

When we purchased the house we found this mantel in the attic. After reading the interview, which we obtained from Indiana Landmarks Foundation, with the women who grew up in the house we learned the sunroom/den orginally had a gas fireplace. The mantel in the attic was a perfect fit - you can see the parquet floor where the orginal tile was. We plan to reinstate a ventless gas fireplace in this area and reinstall the orginal mantel.
